Proper name's Amanda Jane Tapping. She was born on 28th August, 196* in Rochford (Essex). Her father (natural scientist) always called her Sam. He said, that this name is cool but finally he gave her name Amanda. So, when it's possible, he calls her Sam.  Amanda has got 3 brothers (see Interests).

At the age of three, Amanda moved with her family to Ontario, Canada. Her parents wanted her to become scientist, but she wanted to be a marine biologist or good actress - what she finally made. In Ontario, Amanda studied drama ( University of Windsor School of Dramatic Art) and she played in a few theatre stagings. She was great in mathematics (no wonder), but at the university she quit mathematics and became more interested in dramatic art. In North Toronto High she won the prize " The Dramatic Arts Award and Environmental Science Award ". In 1984, she attended The University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Ontario. In 1992, after having studied drama for four more years and vowing never to do television, she secured an agent within 6 months and got her first commercial, for Tim Horton's Oat Bran Muffins. With the money she earned from that and other commercials, Amanda helped co-found Random Acts,

dramatic corporation, which was established in the 90's with Katherin Jackson and Anne Merie Kerr. This group performed different shows in the whole Toronto - The News Ideas Festival and Tarragon Springs Art Fair. The group came to end,  when members of the group moved in the different places. But recently it came to a renewal.

She is a great actress andby the way she tries her happines also in theatre. But her most famous role is the role of an astrophysicist Sam in StarGate series.
